Are you in the market to buy or build a new home? Can’t find anything you like or perhaps you just want to remodel the home you already have. One of the least expensive, yet most dramatic renovations you can make is your entryway.

Custom entry doors are an easy simple way to freshen up your home without having to invest a lot of money into the project. When switching to custom entry doors you don’t really even have to do any construction. As long as you new custom entry doors fit the pre-existing opening, all you have to do is attach the hinges and you’re good to go! Some examples of custom entry doors that do not require added construction are:

When working with new construction sites you have a wider variety of custom entry doors to choose from. As one retailer online states, ‘if you can imagine it, we can build it’. This is due to the fact that the contractor can build your doorway around your custom entry doors, rather than being restricted by the shape of the previous entryway. That being said you should take into consideration the fact that the custom entry doors you choose today, that you ‘absolutely love’ may be very different from the ones you would choose 10 years from now. Therefore when working with your contractor on a design you want to choose something that can easily be converted to a more traditional doorway at a later date should that become necessary.

Many choose the French door style, for their rear entrances, as well as the entrance to the master bedroom, or bathroom if there is one attached. This give the room a more open feel when the doors are open and also adds a touch of class to the room or hallway it is attached to. While it takes a bit more time and effort to install these types of custom entry doors after the construction is completed due to wiring and plumbing, it is not impossible with the right contractor at your side. Most find that the French patio style door is perfect for breakfast rooms and patio entrances because it lets the sunlight in full force in the morning.

The wrought iron style of custom entry doors seems to really be taking off in the more recent years. While it is a bit more costly, depending on the style and size of the doorway you’re trying to fill, they are one of the most versatile and ornate forms of custom entry doors on the market. One of the reasons for the expense I suspect is the fact that each door has to be individually molded and shaped to meet the customers design specifications. While they will definitely stand out from the rest and be the envy of your neighborhood, you should only consider custom entry doors made of wrought iron if you have substantial wiggle room in your budget specifically set aside for custom entry doors.

Then of course there are the tried and true, solid wood, custom entry doors. These types of doors can be customized not only through color (stain or paint) but through design as well. If you have a contractor who is also a skilled craftsman there is no limit to the customization they can add to a simple wooden door. Beveling and scroll work alone can go a long way towards making your custom entry doors stand out from the rest. Let alone if you added frosted glass, or even embossed glass into the scroll work.
